Have the kids take a selfie, and send it to you. Print it out, cut to fit the phone, and glue it onto the back (or front? the side with out the display) side.
All of my devices have double layers of black auto detailing tape over the “selfie” camera. My tablet has that tape over both cameras.
I’m weird enough without thinking that I need to take tons of pictures of myself. Its enough that I see myself in the mirror a couple of times a day.
I also unplug the dog treat tossing device that I purchased when I’m home, to kill the camera in it. It’s fine if I’m not home and want to see my pets, but I have to put up with several dozen security cameras at work, and I want some privacy when I’m at home.
My younger grandkids have had phones for a couple of years. They are in 6th and 7th grades, now. In this day, they need them for tracking or calling for help.
On the bright side, it keeps you from noticing when you take the Wrong Kids home from Day Care. It usually works out OK unless Your Kids get taken home by parents who start dinner out with Ice Cream and End dinner by asking "Now, who wants Meat Loaf?

Miss the days when people actually talked to one another instead of looking at their phones 24/7. But then I’m pretty old.

Couldn’t they just send you selfies?

I know that kids are getting smartphones at younger and younger ages but I don’t think Marie is even 10.
