If your home generates electricity you can sell it to the electric company and reduce your bill. I wonder if the gas company has a program like that. He looks like he generates a lot.
I once got a bill for over $1,000 from the electric company. Thankfully, they were able to figure out it was the result of a misread meter.
At another apartment I lived in (with a different electric company) my electricity usage soared over the summer months one year, which struck me as odd given that I was out of town most of the time and not really using any electricity during that period (except for the refrigerator). The customer service rep I talked to tried to convince me that during really hot months the refrigerator will run more, but the literally six times my normal usage still seemed excessive (especially because nothing like that happened the previous summer), and the fact that, when the weather was not warm, I supposedly used as much electricity as I normally do in a month seemed odd, so they decided to inspect the meter. They charged me twenty bucks to replace the meter (they had to remove it to inspect it), and then claimed the meter was just fine so I was stuck with the enlarged bill. I’m sure it will surprise no one to learn that once they replaced the meter my electricity usage, by sheer coincidence, dropped back down to normal.
Many years ago a lady got a bill for 4 billion from the phone company. They kindly offered to let her pay it in three installments of 1.33 billion each.
