I await the day they shop for laminate flooring, and can’t decide between pine or rosewood burl. Rat’s conclusion would be (are you ready for this): “I’ll go with swearls before pine.”

My family is big on puns. They would say this is a lousy attempt at one and fails miserably.

how he comes up with a bad pun is Patsis probably starts with a pun and works backward. sometimes he has to stretch a bit to get to the pun. and then he ingeniously has to put the proper character in place to play out the pun – with Rat giving the finale on his displeasure on the pun, which can be funnier than the pun. in either case, good pun or bad, we all win!

I’ll never have this kind of trouble with Guard Duck. If he tried to scratch anything of mine he’d get Zippo.

You have to be careful, because a bad pun can really blow up on you.

Duck used to call everyone “Sir”. Since when does he call him “Rat”?

Scratching mines is dangerous. But maybe not as dangerous as promulgating such puns as this.

In these contrived pun strips, I always get a kick out of how Pastis draws himself looking totally clueless.

I did not know that Mr. Pastis was ambidextrous. I thought he was a leftie…not a bothie!!

It is good to see Little Guard Duck back, but at the same time I miss Mr. Snuffles, his sidekick.
