Oh Jeeze! Is “HE” still here??

The more Tiffany wastes her time with this sloth, the more likely she’s going to end up GIVING her stuff away to him for pennies.

Tiffany Should either have an auction house sell her stuff, lease it, or get Bets to eBay it. For the life of Me I can’t figure out why she hasn’t contacted Bets on this. After all, Bets made Tiffany good money off eBay even after her 50% cut. Much better than she’d ever do with this Joker.

Tiff? Swallow your “pride” and call Bets.

Tiff also doesn’t understand that selling something for more than $3 or $7 requires a store or a good website – and a lot of time to wait for the right buyer. Right now Tiff is flat broke. Hopefully most of us are still holding our breath to see if Tiffany can get some actual help.

Are we seeing the dawning of Tiffany the Mogul? Will ED (whatever his name is) be her business partner? first employee? It could be!!

Was panel 1 of https://www.gocomics.com/luann/2019/11/30 a hint at a change of fo0rtune for Tiffany? Let’s hope so.

I agree with detroitpete, I think Tiffany is showing real growth here, inviting Ed to make a better offer, as a benefit to him, and an instinct to close a sale, basic sales practice. She is trying to close it on better terms to her by convincing him it is better for him. Her real situation is what to do with her housing, and other expenses dad is not paying, and I want to see that move, but this is not a situation where judgmentalism is anything more than projection.

Seeing a lot of comments about how Tiffany should keep the stuff to sell herself. Keep in mind she’s in a crunch and needs the money quickly. Selling to Ed means she gets cash now and a fair amount of it considering her expensive tastes. And she doesn’t have to hold onto it waiting for a fish to nibble the hook only to possibly slip away. Once sold that becomes Ed’s problem.

As with all of Greg’s work, it is paced for a week at a time. We have three days with dialog that can result in several outcomes. We still have three days for Greg to reveal the outcome he has chosen.

This weeks setup strips seem to be favoring an outcome where Tiffany is moving out of rock bottom victimhood. Les guillotined any relationship with his mother months ago. Is Tiffany snipping away at the daddy necktie? We wait with practiced resolve.

“Give me my price”???? Cheap Ed? Reality check: Her table had originally cost $2000. Cheap Ed offered $7. I can’t see exactly how the 2 can negotiate a satisfactory deal. What does Tiff want for it? $1000? Cheap Ed (who doesn’t have the knowledge, nor clientele to resell it for a good price) wouldn’t even offer $100 for it. Partnership? Hah! The guy’s a junk hauler and a reseller of cheap stuff. What would he bring to the partnership besides a strong back, a hauling truck and storage (alongside all of the discarded IKEA stuff)?

Gunther did fairly well selling his mom’s granny furniture (let’s not talk about how he spent the money afterwards). Tiff, call Gunther!

Why doesn’t Tiffany just advertise online, e.g. e-bay? I’m guessing it’s because she does not want to split the profit; perhaps she cannot afford to split the profit. But if’s she’s so smart and business minded she can learn how to post on e-bay instead of asking someone to do it for her. It’s just a few items.

Do I sense a Scarlett O’Hara trope? Recall back, on Nov 30, where Tiff’s despair is replaced by a scheming look, and then she made a mysterious call (to Cheap Ed).

“…As God is my witness, I’ll never be hungry again!”

So, is this all part of a long con, a game where Tiff pulls herself out of poverty and starvation, albeit on the back of someone like Cheap Ed?

Is he the Yankee soldier, who fortuitously provides her (with his death) with a few gold pieces that gets her a new start? Or is he the hapless Frank Kennedy, who runs a store (poorly) and eventually finds Scarlett, errrr, Tiff, calling the shots, re-investing his money to make bigger profits (sawmills, etc.) and finding himself as the junior partner of the organization… far outclassed in ruthlessness, gumption, audacity and good business sense by his (ahem) female partner?

There may be hope for Tiffany yet. Anyone who goes into business has one particular goal in mind: to make money. And he must be doing pretty well if Tiffany considered calling him for help. But Tiffany seems to have just barely enough business sense to help him do better.

The more quality in the merchandise, the greater the selling price. It’s just a matter of finding the right kind of buyer. Perhaps Tiffany can help Ed find such a buyer. It would be easier for him to sell the furniture than for Tiffany alone.

Seems to be quite a discussion here about butts today. I remember a song Eddie Murphy did years ago that I have not heard in a long time, so I looked it up on YouTube. Lo and behold, it was there. I do give a mild caution, it does indicate an explicit lyrics advisory, so I listened to the song in it’s entirety, and I can assure you the worst word used is “butt”, which has already been widely used here on the board today and on panel on the strip. So, armed with that, I submit for your listening enjoyment:

“It’s ART”Sounds like Greg is having comic arts midlife crisis, and between Zebo and this, thinking a lot about what gets recognized or not as art.

Watterson seems to have gone through this…see some of the strips further down this page:https://sites.tufts.edu/phil4chil/2018/06/05/teaching-philosophy-with-calvin-and-hobbes/

Tiff actually has a true business opportunity here. She has the stock to open “Tiff’s Boutique Treasures”. She can use her knowledge of high end furniture and fashion to find more, which Ed can pick up and deliver. She will need mini Elvis, or TJ to bankroll first, last, deposit and utilities on an appropriate location however.
