My dad liked his coffee cold and black, even leftover from the night before. If he had to drink it fresh, he added an ice cube. Maybe this was a Post Traumatic Coffee Disorder from his years in WWII.
I was stuck in an airport where “Javabux” was the only thing open at that hour. Paid a ridiculous price for a medium size black cup o’ caffeine, worst coffee I’ve ever had.
The best coffee I have ever had was in a small town cafe in Woodville, Wisconsin. I think it is the only restaurant in town (pop. around 1000). Not sure what it was (the water, maybe?), but, MAN, was that good coffee! I am the kind that needs a little coffee in my cream and sugar, and with this coffee all I did was add about 1/3 the sugar I usually take and no cream at all.
Haha…… I do not begrudge folks there desire for all the fancy, frou-frou coffees…. I have tasted a few…. and they taste pretty decent…. usually like candy.
But……. BUT … they are so damn expensive!!!!!!!! And, the more “individualized” a person makes his/her order… the longer the line takes.
Me…. black, strong, robust unadulterated coffee…. is my friend….. room temp or over ice.
My kids and their spouses; Sourbux coffee in one hand, phone in the other……….and lots of monthly payments……..at least I know where the inheritance will go.
Some 30 years ago, I ordered a “small, medium roast coffee, black”. The counterkid corrected me using the “proper” StarBux terms. I repeated my order and the idiot did it again. I left and haven’t been back since.

The problem is that your average “Starbucks” barista doesn’t know what a “normal cup of coffee” is! ;/

My order is a large regular black coffee. I don’t even have to order it, she sees me and brings it over. :)

I ordered a regular black coffee at Starbucks and the lady called me a wimp. I didn’t bother to argue.
DuckOfDeath about 5 years ago
Where I live, “regular” means with cream & sugar! Black coffee is just black coffee.

Yesterday, Bear gets sweet tea from young lady. Today, Dog goes to Javabux and orders coffee from old guy.

Made the mistake of getting black coffee at fourbucks. Worse than day-old Navy coffee.

Never been to a coffee shop, never will. 7-11 has good strong coffee, and I usually make my own anyway. Strong enough to make your hair stand on end.

I mess up the counter person at McD’s by saying black, no sugar. They hardly ever get it correct.

Pluggers know not to buy stuff they don’t know the function or taste of.

He tips better if the server is a plugger instead of a barista.

When they ask me, “Room for cream and sugar?” I answer, “Good coffee doesn’t need cream and sugar.”
