Kids, even bright ones, don’t really understand that hiding a letter doesn’t stop communication by other means. And Danae’s teacher, more than most, will know that if there’s no response from dad, then she’d better call…

Here in comic strip world, I find Danae to be a favorite.

Well, if the teacher was foolish enough to trust Danae to deliver the letter …

Dad tried to subpoena the document, but Danae told the teacher not to comply.

Can’t do that today everything is done by email or in some cases text. Plus most schools now have websites for teachers to inform parents.

I find it surprising that she’d be frightened about her father reading the letter. She always appeared to be too cool for that to me.

She’s getting taller and thinner.

What does she have to be afraid of if Daddy reads the letter? A day in her room? Big deal.

Email and text are now used. She needs to up her cybercrime game.

Teacher would, of course, have other methods of communicating but then we wouldn’t have a comic strip would we?

haha, I intercepted mine on a Saturday morning and flung it in the fire while Mum and Dad were off shopping. Dodged a big ol’ bullet that day!!!

My son’s teachers leave voice mails or send texts.

So how is her name supposed to be pronounced? Day-Nuh, accent on the first syllable, or Dah-Nay, accent on the second syllable? I never saw the name Dana with an E at the end.

One cashier noticed my card hadn’t been signed. He told me to sign it. Then he compared it with the credit card slip I had just signed, to make sure they matched.

Hiding the letter won’t work for long because schools usually require such letters to be signed by the parent(s) and returned, and if the letter isn’t returned after a few days then the school contacts the parent(s) by phone, then by email if the parent(s) can’t be reached by phone. The kid could fake the signature but the school will usually still call the parent for verified confirmation.

Does a teacher still send a written note home with a kid ? Don’t they have email yet ?

Little Jim called the school and said Jimmy is sick and can’t come to school today. The Principle asked who is this speaking? Little Jim replied “This is my mother”
