Stick to the jus d’orange, Monty. At least you’ve got a fighting chance with that one.

Just being French is upmarket and pretentious?

So… if you’re going to open a little family style restaurant, you should learn to speak French, and write the menu in French…

and people will expect to pay a couple of bucks more for every item on the menu?

And if you’re ever in Britain, Monty, make sure you ask for chips. Unless you mean ‘chips’: then ask for crisps.

It’s one of those things I don’t pay close attention to, but I think most American menus just call them “fries”.

By the way, anyone remember “freedom fries”?

How about freedom fries. I am still upset that France did not support our invasion.

Even the Germans use the name Pommes Frites – the French name for fries. It originated in Belgium (where the speak France). There: Hopefully, I’m done channeling my inner Sheldon Cooper today!

“fries” are kind of a weird name when you think of it, since you can fry many different kinds of food but we only call fried potatoes fries. It’s kind of like how a lot of different things can be pickled but we only call pickled cucumbers “pickles.”I also know they call fries “chips” in the UK so this joke doesn’t really translate across the pond.
