Iâve taken one law course in my entire life on engineering law. It addressed two major areas, product liability and intellectual property. I came to realize that Engineering Law is an oxymoron. Engineering is based on fact and logic; law isnât.
I worked for a short time in a building that had such shiny marble floors on the executive floor that is wasnât safe to walk there. You had to get off on the floor above or below and walk. There was cardboard spread on the floor from the office door to the stair well. I suppose they eventually got carpet, but it was the darndest waste of money Iâd seen. (Up to that point, anyway.)

Go ahead, fall and sue and say sign tripped you. Got to keep the legal department busy.

Every time I see one of those warning signs reading âWET FLOORâ I have a tendency to read it as an imperative.

What, no âPiso Mojadoâ? (Spanish for âsomeone peed on the floorâ.)

No matter how many signs, the more you try to make it idiot proof, the faster they will create a better idiot.

There is nothing more dangerous to a business than a proactive legal department.

How about a sign that reads, âUse your damn brain!â . Then again, thatâs probably pointless.
