To be fair avacados do count as a fruit.

At his age, if he calls it “salad” then it is salad. And besides the croutons, there’s avocado.

It sounds delicious, not very kind to the cholesterol but yummy all the same. :)

It could be a pizza without the crust.

Not much worse than a lot of today’s “salads” – iceberg lettuce, topped with multiple cheeses, some deep-fried meat substance, mayo-based salad dressing, etc. At least the avocado is nutritious, and the chili could well be.

Salad is in the eyes of the beholder. When I was in college, we used to mix Dannon fruit yogurt with Cool Whip and call it yogurt salad. Yes, I know. Don’t say it.
