Had an argument once at a fast food drive-through because all of the drinks were a buck and the girl couldnât understand why I didnât want a large. I finally said, âIt wonât fit in my cup holder.â That she understood. And, yes, their 16 oz Small was a Large when I was young.
Some fast food places offer a âseniorâ size soda at a reduced price. Itâs usually a small cup 8-10 oz. I donât think milk shakes are offered though.
I have always been amazed at the places that say they donât have a âSmallâ just medium/regular-large-extra large or such. I always get the âDeer in the Head Lights Stareâ when I ask them "Well then isnât the medium/regular your Small ? " and get the " No Sir thats not a Small, would you like a Medium/Regular ? " I mean Really ? :-} Duh ! :-)
A leading cola drink used to cost 5 cents a glass that held at most a double shot of the drink. Look at some of the old advertising media from the late 1890âs â early 1900âs. Given the ingredients used then, you probably should not be drinking more then that at a time anyways.
It seems really strange to me that with all the concern about obesity in the US and all the emphasis on having a healthier diet, the food industry in general seems to be going out of its way to make it harder. Fast food places of course are not known to be âhealthyâ but the super-sizing makes it worse. But the food industry also seems to be going out of its way to create new unhealthy foods â when you look at the cereal aisle in a grocery story, there seems to be dozens more sugary options than their used to be â for example, Cheerios [a fairly common, healthy cereal option] now comes in Apple Cinnamon, Banana Nut, Berry Burst (Triple and Strawberry), Cinnamon, Cinnamon Burst, Cinnamon Nut, Chocolate, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Frosted, Fruity, Honey Nut, MultiGrain, Oat Cluster, Very Berry, Yogurt Burst (Strawberry and Vanilla) â might as well be the candy aisle.

I would hate to see the large size thereof (itâs probably as big as an adult plugger).
