This segment is a killer! The Poor Creature probably did..But then he is probably either chewing some gum or worse salivating on some criket named Jiminy yes siree bob those cheeks cannot fool anyone specially cat lovers let alone Garfield!
When I was a kid, my Aunt Florence used to tease me by having a box of expensive chocolates nearby, and then offering me one and saying, “This one’s a chocolate covered beetle. This one’s a chocolate covered ant. This one’s a chocolate covered cockroach”, etc. Surprisingly, I still like chocolate to this day. That obviously wouldn’t work with Odie. After all, dogs aren’t supposed to eat chocolate.
Many years ago, my parents owned an Irish Setter. If a fly got into the house and buzzed around, the dog would lie in wait, and when the time was right he would leap up and snap the fly out of midair, then loudly chew and swallow it. Grossed my mom out big time.
Anybody remember the strip where Garfield and Odie were on a walk, and Garfield was discussing the meaning of life (No, not the Monty Python movie) at the same time that Odie was able to catch a butterfly?
We used to have a Scottish Terrier named MacGregor who loved to nom on cicadas, he was particularly happy back in 2017 or 18 when the annual and 17-year cicadas came out simultaneously.

The reason why Odie can’t think because he lost his voice at a unseen Garfield comic strip (Not a April fools joke)

Cats certainly eat enough of them. Then they throw up.

Eating a bug would be a step up for my dog, who likes to eat his own crap. :P
