Always a pleasure to see Annie. It is lush and green outside, so Warbucks International is a long way from Tracyville. I’ll wager that whatever is in that letter eventually brings Annie back to Tracyville…and her good friend, Honeymoon. Cheers!

When I read panel two, my first thought was that her Little Orphan Annie Decoder Ring finally arrived. Got her mixed up with Ralphie !

She’d be the best pupil at the Warbucks Academy, but it doesn’t have any pupils.

With all due respect, this is not what I read Dick Tracy for. Actually I don’t even read it at all when it’s just nostalgia guest stars from other strips.

Metaphor may be mixed, but it makes as much sense as a sudden switch to Annie. I have nothing against Annie per se, but to inject her unexpectedly here in the midst of the Shaky and Edison Lighthouse vs. Tess and Johnny and maybe even some day Dick Tracy, putative star of the strip, seems like piling crossover upon crossover (remember, Edison is herself a crossover).

If this interjection, however, gives Mike a chance to figure out where he’s going with the main story rather than just making it up day by day, so much the better….
