Three years ago I had the privilege to sail on “Star Trek – the Cruise #1”. It had been 25 years since our only Trek convention. There were fans in all sorts of costumes. Some of the best were red shirt crew who barely survived! It was fun. I was glad we had a balcony so we could get away from it all. It was the only place available for some normalcy.
The stormtrooper meme got parodied in a meta way in “The Mandalorian”, in a scene with two stormtroopers standing watch over a space port. I think Adam Corolla was playing one of them (Hard to tell with the helmets). They were bored, and started firing at a stationary object on the ground to pass the time. Neither one of them could hit it. I only caught the joke on a second viewing, but I laughed when it hit me. (No pun intended.)
That’s why Galaxy Quest was a funny movie. It touched on many aspects of Star Trek, but when the Sam Rockwell character mentioned that he was a “guest star” and that he was going to die, it was pretty funny.

And here I thought the red shirt was killed by a Terminator…

Statistically you were more likely to die on an away mission if you were command (gold shirt).

Guess I’m not a geek. Only thing I can think is that shirts don’t have feet.

I get it but I deny being a geek! I’m a NERD. A whole different thing.

I get it. Never good to be a Start Trek red shirt. They didn’t tend to be on screen all that long.

I understand this. But this is happening more because I read this comic (and the comment) for years.

Omg, that is too sad, almost as bad as a guy that draws rats, pigs and goats.

Lt Uhura and Yeoman Rand wore red and were never killed. And Scotty wore red and was the baddest badass in Trek.

Lt Uhura wore red and gold, Yoeman Rand, stayed close enough to Kirk to be lucky. Scotty was killed by Nomad then later “repaired” by Nomad.

I’m out of the loop. Never saw a episode of Star Trek. For which I’m eternally thankful.

Are you a geek if you get it, but don’t think it’s funny?
