good ol’ Elder Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of which both Brian Crane and I (as well as my fellow GoComics user Lee Cox) are members… when did David say that though? I don’t remember ALL quotes from every General Conference of the Church.
For awhile, when my kid was about two, any cheerios on the floor were HIS. ‘Course, he was the one who put it there. Later, we hired a dog. I can honestly say that I’ve only had to clean up a cheerio maybe twice in the last 30 years.
Cheerios you can leave. But you do not want to leave a Grape Nut where you can step on it in your bare feet. Legos are nothing compared to those little nuggets.
This cartoon is the Late and Unlamented, aka my first husband. Not only would he have told me about the Cheerio, but he would have wanted a round of applause.

Homer Simpson was disappointed because he thought a Cheerio on the floor might instead be a donut at a great distance.

Congratulations Earl! What a monumental feat! Next time why don’t you sweep the whole floor while you’re at it?

The things you discover when you fall into a Google wormhole when looking up something from a comic.
Maybe some of you know, but I didn’t, that Brian Crane is actually a practicing Mormon…
he’s probably well acquainted in real life with the writings of LDS Elder David Bednar.
Mr. Crane and his wife have 7 children, and, as of the article I read, 17 grandchildren.
Not that it all means anything… I just found it interesting.

The fact the Earl was able to bend down and pick up the Cheerio is an accomplishment in itself! Good job, old man!

The intent of the message is we can all improve a little… even by picking up something we wouldn’t have before. By small things we can improve.
