This is pretty close to reality for me. Everyone in my house gets up at 9 or 10, so I’ve started getting up at 6 or 7 to have some alone time before everyone comes down
The battery in my watch died. It can’t be replaced until June 8th because of Covid, so I’m living outside of human time now, between sunrise and sunset. It’s a long day.
Definitely a morning person here. I’m no more fond of work than anyone else, but I function best early. I’d rather have a busy morning and a lazy afternoon than a lazy morning and a busy afternoon. (And if I am lazy in the morning, I’m likely to be lazy all day.)
I agree with Calvin, when you become an adult you don’t have weekends you just change jobs. On Saturday I do everything I couldn’t get done during the week. When I was a kid I had chores but most of the day I could do what I wanted.
I, too, suffered from a dad who was a morning person. Getting up early is one thing. Being so smug and cheerful about it to those of us who are night owls is just so danged annoying.
I’m definitely a late to bed, late to rise person by nature. But when I worked in an office trying to be productively creative, I found it very good indeed to get to work before the distractors… I mean my co-workers :) got there. I could get as much done in the hour before they arrived as I could do in the whole rest of the day.
At least the son is aware of his first name: Calvin! Even if he does not know his last name. And how are the parents going to identify themselves before the US Census Bureau?

Some people just aren’t morning people. Believe me, I know, as I’m not one either…

Today DNA testing could shed light on that question.

He’s got a point, Dad. What’s the use of having a day off if all you’re going to do is work the whole time?

Meh. If it’s the early bird that catches the worm, why’d the worm get out of bed?

Oh lor’, this was my mother. As an insomniac she was usually up by 4 or 5 AM. At 8’30 she’d be screaming, “C’mon, up and at em, the day’s half over!”

Score Calvin. The old man got defensive. Nothing wrong with getting up early but not exactly something most pat their back for….

Dad, do like I used to when a certain member of my family would finally drag himself out of bed: “He breaches!” Or “It’s alive! It’s alive!” ☺
