Microsoft memo from the â90s: âMake sure the next Windows patch breaks WordPerfectâ. Mediocrity stands triumphant on the graves of superior products.
I have been using Windows since the very first version back in the 90âsâŠI have never seen the âblue screen of deathâ or had it freeze up or anything. I know that complaints get more attention online than satisfied folkâŠbut some people make it sound like EVERY version of Windows running on EVERY PC is a nightmare, and that canât possibly be true.
I remember a quote from some executive forum years ago. A computer exec was lecturing auto execs on things that they should learn from the tech industry. The answer was at least our products donât need to be restarted in the middle of using them, like on the interstate.
windows â your results may be different! lol -âââThe trillion line coded software that keeps crashing because of a comma â when a few thousand lines of code cover the entire need of a computer platform
What I most detested about the Microsoft World is the idea that software can be released and then tested and that consumers (most of whom had/have no computer backgrounds) are to find answers to their problems by chatting with thousands of others who have similar problems â and none of you has figured out how to fix it (it will be âfixedâ in the next upgrade). I donât go to other people who have had legal trouble for my legal advice; I donât go to other people who have cavities to get my cavities filled; I donât go to other people who have broken a leg to get mine set. Why should going to people, no matter how many, who have the same computer problem help solve mine?
My W10 computer runs great (fast, only crashes once or twice a year), but only because I have a few independent cleanup-tuneup-protection programs that I run every day, along with Windows Disk Cleanup, that all together take only a few minutes each day, if run DAILY. However, we shouldnât have to do this. I have a Toyota Camry, and it just needs maintenance twice a year, not once or twice daily. And our stove, microwave oven, etc, etc, just keep right on trucking, year after year, with no maintenance. If Microsoft would buy the rights to these cleanup programs, AND INCORPORATE them into Windows, then Win10 could run great for everyone!

The race isnât much but at least it gets you out of the Office. Although that Vista is nasty.
Hey, Word is, you can Access a chance to Excel while you improve your Outlook.

Trillions of microseconds ago, Microsoft had three OSâs. CE for portable devices, ME for home computers, NT for servers. Put them together andâŠ

Still true after all these years. Yet it managed to make many billionaires.

I donât believe it. Microsoft has never produced anything that would run in 10K.

At the half way mark the track will be upgraded, and all contestants will have to take their boots off just so they can put them back on again.

Funny but just two comics after this one, a box popped up and required me to restart my computer (to install Microsoft updates).

I was forced to upgrade to 100 MB/s download rates to get their updates in under a day.

Mac user since 1988. Never had this sort of problem. And I donât have to buy a new motherboard or computer for every OS update.
