The very first review I ever saw of the very first Star Wars movie was in TIME magazine (May 30, 1977). They referenced Han Solo’s sidekick, noting that he was named Chewbaca. But then they reassured moviegoers by saying, “He doesnt.”
The most interesting thing about their coverage, though, is that they called it the best movie of 1977… even though it was only May!
My sister’s best friend played D&D with my friends and I when we had a Last Day of School party. Mom said I should have taken it as a hint when I said I was planning to go see Jason and the Argonauts and said friend had seen the commercials and said it reminded her of D&D (on the other hand, my college girlfriend said she loved Shakespeare when I invited her to Olivier’s Hamlet and was shocked that Hamlet was killed).
