Junior returns home and reports he got a part in the school play. Dad asks what kind of part? Kid says the part of a man who has been married 25 years. Dad says that’s too bad. He had hope the kid would get a speaking part.
I do not let my wife off the hook with mindless reruns of previous arguments that are not contextual. the house is big enough and the spare room nice enough that I can wait her out.
It is far too easy, in the course of an argument, to forget that the real goal is to get everybody on the same page rather than one person being “right.”

Being right is no excuse. In fact it is a way many a husband has gotten into trouble. I avoid it at all costs.
