Mike, this is a defining moment in your life. You can be a man, or you can be whipped. Apologizing for doing nothing wrong is putting you on the wrong path.

Well, I see he is ready for marriage already!

If this turns into Mike’s adult relationship, I think he just surrendered his right to wear the pants in the family. Please no spoilers on whether or not he winds up married to Martha as I only caught bits and pieces of this comic in it’s first run.

I just love the trait of the Canadian custom of “apology”. It would be SO GOOD if Americans did this too.

Okay, lesson learned. That’s how it works. Apologize to the person who hurt your feelings for putting them in a position where they had to hurt you. Welcome to Canada.

You got it right kid. If you’re having an argument with a woman and begin to get the feeling you may be right, apologize immediately.

Mike is learning young that women are always right and to always apologize.

Mike has nothing to apologize for. He did not talk to Martha about the lack of letters. He did not make a big deal with her at all. He should go say Hi to her and let her do the talking, and apologizing.

Its a lesson that will serve him well when he finally does marry.

Of course Martha will accept Mike’s apology!

As far as manipulation goes, Martha is at the top of the class.

I guess as old as I am, I can’t understand what special writing skill she would have needed to say " Hi, I miss you. I’ll be glad when you get home." Just any little heart felt note would have been appreciated. And………I know it’s just a cartoon!!!

Mike is proving to be quite a gullible dummkopf.

In my (old lady, lol) opinion, the only thing Michael needs to apologize for is sending Gordon to do his “dirty work” of finding out why Martha didn’t write. He should have called or visited her himself.

So what about Gordon, Michael? Did you tell him thank you, buy him a soda, or anything? Nope – Michael is still as selfish as ever.

I like the “Walking Tall” idea by rebelstrike where Michael comes home from the farm to find the mob has taken over town.
