Kids will resort to anything to get their way.

“All-inclusive” means unlimited ice cream, of course.

I’ve visited some of the resorts that are pictured so. It’s much like going to look at a house that’s on the market after seeing the pictures: You CAN figure out how they did that (sometimes), but it sure don’t look like that to the naked eye!

Envy inducing backdrop… reminds me of all those FB friends who spend a lot of time building an on-line social life showing off all of those pictures they took of their own face on an amazing background.

I like to sit at the beach and read. So what if I’m vacationing rather than traveling?

You know, I would prefer the resort too.

I like to keep moving and see all there is to see (scuba, snorkel, hike, etc.), my wife likes to relax on the veranda and watch the sea. Something for everyone.

A mix of the two choices would be better. Time to learn, time to just chill. Otherwise there is only one say in the matter, usually made by parents, who think kids should be told, not listened to.

I wonder if we could learn to take micro-vacations throughout the year, rather than the traditional designated two weeks. Just learn to take a moment, breathe, be present, aware of the wonder of what is around us, and just . . . relax. For a few seconds, a minute, an hour. And for that bit of time, listen to something or nothing at all, close our eyes or look at the clouds, feel the breeze or the sun on our skin. For just a few minutes at a time, micro-vacations. Try it, there’s no cost.

I generally don’t care what other people think about where I go or what I do with my own time.

I’ve enjoyed the envy-inducing backdrops but not this year, unfortunately.

I’m not actually an albino, but I’ve never been able to persuade the Sun of that. My idea of vacation involves roofs, umbrellas, and SPF 100 (or maybe the 2 million sunblock Sarah Connor was touting in this bit of product placement: https://youtu.be/pXD12XrttmQ).

There is a company that offers bicycle tours of France. Specifically the stages of the previous year’s Tour if they are not being used. I have ridden several Prologs and several Champs Élysées and other flatter ones, even the Mont Ventoux, but that’s about it. I prefer getting out and away from sillyvisation but my wife and girls like resorts and hotels, any place where roughing it is waiting 30 minutes for room service and not having to feed a jadgstaffel of hungry mosquitoes. When we have followed the Tour I usually rent a caravan and follow for the last week or so and they stay in a Parisian hotel.
