When I had a lumberyard design trusses for a 2-story barn, they asked me if I was going to store books and magazines. Seems weight adds up faster than you would think!!
I like the actual photograph… “suitable for framing” obviously.. Then the suspense of what will happen to the ceiling with a half ton on the upper area’s floor joists.
Paper is in fact amazingly dense and heavy. We don’t realise it because we deal with small amounts at a time. When I was playing/creating LARP and needed a chest of gold we would fill it with paper to make it as heavy as possible. Players complained of the weight. :)
I wish Mr. Johnson would reprint the comics in books so that we could read all of them. I especially like the time Arlo and Gene bought a 57 Chevy. I had saved those strips from the mid-80’s bought lost them in a move.
They have all been digitized and saved on their own external hard drive and a second and third digital copy have been placed in separate locations to ensure safety, right? The Mrs is a professional illustrator and has one back-up drive for images and such in her office and a second one in the house that she swaps out with the first every week and a third in a safety deposit box in town that she swaps out every month for #2 and lastly a 4th drive in a safety deposit box in Victoria. We have not suffered any crashes or loss of data but we don’t have umbrellas to prevent the rain, either. My office manager told me many years ago, “There are two kinds of computer users, those who have back up drives and those who will.” Cheapest insurance ever.
Jan Eliot donated nearly 7,000 strips of Stone Soup to Ohio State. Arlo and Janis should have a spot in the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum too!
Happy anniversary! A friend of mine stored her yarn stash in her attic and the ceiling collapsed on her visiting mother-in-law’s (not then in use) bed, raining skeins of wool. Be careful under there!

He just needs to put up some drywall and maybe wedge a post under that ceiling. Good for another twenty years at least.

Does this mean we’ll soon have Arlo & Janis Classics?! That would be great! Or is this ’I’m soon to retire the strip’ setup?

So is this entire week just going to talk about the start of A&J while never actually showing any of the first strips?
