I’ve wonder the same thing. It used to be that indentured servants would put in their contracts that they couldn’t be fed lobster more than three times a week.
Some cultures do eat insects (like grasshoppers or crickets). They are supposedly a good source of protein. I’ll stick with crab, though. (I know this is about lobsters, but I prefer crab to lobster.)
They (lobsters) were in the same category in days of old and fed to prisoners and considered poor folk food. A fine example of the power of advertisement..
I used to enjoy lobster but that was before I got “religion” about eating healthily. It’s really the butter that we enjoy, I believe. Take that away and lobster tastes a lot like any old white fish.

Never got the ‘love’ for lobsters. Plus, having them alive before being thrown into boiling water always seemed cruel.
