I can identify with today’s strip. Before I retired and even early afterwards, my wife would accuse me of being hyperactive and yes I found it hard to not be doing something. Almost 2 years later, I find it easier to not always be doing something and not feel guilty about it.
But, it only takes about three months to realize that giving is a lot more rewarding- and a lot more fun- than vacationing. Knowing each day, as you drive home from work, that you have made a small contribution to making the world better makes retirement seem pretty depressing.
Rick… liking your work… but I hope that you will continue to pay homage to us more hirsute fellows like Gary did… and be sure to include many of the (male) Pluggers with bushy mustaches/beards. It felt more inclusive of the Plugger look for a lot of us. :)

Ok now I’m seeing the art shift. I like it. It’s more subtle and less jarring then the transition with Heart of the City.

Made one of those dumb squirrel picnic tables yesterday. Scrap lumber, miter saw and my nearly-headless nail gun, took about 20 minutes.

The problem is when you find yourself starting to do it BEFORE you retire. I just call it “practicing” for retirement. :o)

Here’s something I made up for the minister’s sermon on the 46th psalm – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00EoCPEZc4c

Seriously, find something that you like to do, but didn’t have time for when you were working and DO IT.

Well, it certainly takes longer.

Sometimes it’s life that decides that for you.
