    Breathe deep the gathering gloom,

Watch lights fade from every room.

Bedsitter people look back and lament,

    Another day’s useless energy spent.

    Impassioned lovers wrestle as one.

(Wait, what am I lamenting here, anyway??)

I dunno about getting any warmer. In the very early 1960s it got so hot in Columbus, Ohio that people put cooking oil on the hoods of their black cars and literally fried eggs in the noonday sun. We also had warm rains. The rains coming down were white and as warm as a kid’s shower. We were allowed to play out in the warm rains. I have not experienced a warm rain like that in the US since.

We didn’t have much of a summer, maybe 4-5 hot days total. However, we also didn’t get any rain for eight weeks and fire season started early and awful.

Better stick to comic gags Jimmy, and leave the poetry to the pros.

“And deliver all from Summer/Which was hotter’n’ell.”

And I like to think “burnt-out cell” is a reference to everyone flooding the Internet with phone pics of Autumn leaves.

There is an early winter coming this year here in N. Alabama. As much as a month earlier that last year based on average Heating Degree Days. Summer has been cooler and wetter.

Bu in the Bay St. Louis area it is always hotter.

“And deliver us from summer’s heat, which has gotten ridiculous”!No argument here. We’re still seeing temps near 90 on our mountain. Pre-2000 we would see maybe 2 or 3 days over 90F and by September would be solidly in the 70s for high. First freeze should have been 2-3 weeks ago. This year we’ve dropped below 40 maybe 3 nights, most nights low doesn’t get below 55. We have also broken about 20 record high temps this year. Also less than 2" of rain all spring/summer when we should have seen close to 20".Global warming sucks but at least our mountains haven’t seen the bad fires plaguing the rest of the SW US.!!!
