Stiffing those who provide for him (with or without their consent) is what Trump does.
The hilarious irony (apart from the not-so-funny criminality) is that, while Trump is a clever CON man, kind of like an autistic savant who is mentally challenged except for one unique talent, which in Trump’s case is to identify who is gullible enough to lure into his cult and who is not (and therefore subject only to ridicule and dismissal), but he is utterly oblivious to the fact that the lyrics in most of the songs whose intellectual property he steals are direct attacks on everything Trump represents.
If Trump had an unimpaired brain, he would be humiliated (if this shameless criminal were capable of such feelings). As it is, he thinks they are laughing with him when, in reality, they are laughing at him.
They would love to sue him for all he is worth for violating their copyrights and trademarks but, alas, everything he is worth is about half a billion dollars of debt to banks propped up with Russian-guaranteed loans. (Also the same reason Melania can’t divorce him; half his community property is a quarter billion of debts.)
The rest are just talking points with no logic or reasoning behind them. I miss intelligent progressive Republicans, but alas after 1968 they’re increasingly scarce.
Cartoonists have a term “bunny strip” to refer to an innocuous strip that runs in place of a controversial one. The strip above was already used by some newspapers (remember those?) in place of the Oct. 11 strip. You can read about it.
Over the years, the GOP has appropriated feel good pop/rock, unintentionally ironic as you just know the artists wouldn’t agree with if/when they knew. As a thought experiment, I once tried to file ones that would more fit their narrative. For instance, Gun Control by Ian Hunter (Stick to your guns, boys, stick to your guns. We’ll make a lot of money if we stick to the guns. The president’s with us boys, so join in the fun.We can make a lot of money if we stick to our guns.“)Everybody Knows by Leonard Cohen but I prefer Concrete Blonde’s(“Everybody knows that the dice are loadedEverybody rolls with their fingers crossedEverybody knows the war is overEverybody knows the good guys lostEverybody knows the fight was fixedThe poor stay poor, the rich get richThat’s how it goesEverybody knows“)
Does anyone happen to recall what happy to Jimmy’s wife and kid (named or nicknamed “Feedback”)? Did they just vanish from the strip? That happens sometimes.
You can add John Fogerty who just sued rump yesterday for using Fortunate Son; which is kinda of funny since the song is about trump-how the rich were able to avoid service during Vietnam. Does trump realize YMCA is about gays at the Y (for those <60, the Y use to be males only and you swam naked)? But then Reagan used Born in the USA thinking it was a rousing patriotic song.
Trump and the rallies have been declared a health hazard. No surprise there. As to the music, Republicans have no respect for any rules other than what is good for them.
POS-PINO Trump is nothing if not consistent, blasting the Chinese communists for intellectual property theft while brazenly conducting it in his campaign.
It’s not just Trump. The GOP does not respect property rights period. Every presidential campaign they have used songs illegally and without permission from the artist.
Trump doesn’t care about cease and desist orders, he knows they can’t really do anything about him using the music. They could charge him fines but he simply won’t pay it.
The wildest thing is that he clearly doesn’t understand the music he’s using. Born in the USA is not an optimistic rah-rah song about America. Fortunate Son is not complimentary to people like Trump. Trump thinks using the music makes him look great but it just makes him look stupid.
@Hermit… Sweet fanny Adams, dude! You must have a ton of time on your hands. Have you thought about doing something useful? You could walk an elderly neighbor’s dog…volunteer at a food kitchen, or just offer yourself up as a medical test subject.
https://www.insider.com/artists-who-dont-want-trump-using-their-music-2018-11Searched “trump music cease desist”. Funny thing is, searching “biden music cease desist” comes up with almost the same result list. Articles about Trump.
One problem with the musicians telling trump not to use their music. If the trump people has a copyright license there’s nothing they can do. The license gives the right to play any music that’s covered by the license. My church had the same problem but once the license number was revealed they backed off. legally the license holder has rights and for the original artist to stop the license holder from using the music could result in a legal action by the license holder. This is all business now.
My paper the columbus dispatch ran this one last week and again this week performing censorship .They changed the date on it. I looked up last week’s strip and it probably hit too close to home for the editors.
So. President Joffrey is still ‘dancing’ to YMCA, now he’s telling us he wants to "kiss all the men and the beautiful ladies in his audiences. You think maybe……?……..Naah, never mind.

So let me get this straight.
China stealing intellectual property – bad
Trump stealing copyrighted material – good?
China stealing US jobs – bad
Trump stiffing contractors – good?
