Great, now ‘I’ has joined the server?! Something tells me Amesworth is about to have a bad day.

Looks like shot is coming right back at them…..an unintended ricochet! I make a guess….bye bye Alan…as he turns Doc away to take the hit instead of her.

None of them were hit. However, it appears the ceiling took the hit and you can seek chunks of it falling in the last panel. Now, were the dittos vocering the ceiling as well as walls? In which case, were some of them destroyed?

In any case, the toothbrushes were in the act of teraing down the lighthouse and she may have helped them.

She does seem to have quit firing, so maybe sanity will prevail. (Those guns can fire for a long time, as was demonstrated when Wally & company ecountered Linda, the soon to be koala).

Someone wasn’t paying attention to the elephant in the room, thankfully.

Though not her universe, if her suit integrity is violated here, will she turn into a toothbrush? (or a tube of Crest?)?

Interesting. Up until now, Amesworth (if that is her name) has been depicted as somehow different than other topsiders – as in, not willing to immediately kill all “mutants” on sight.

Now it appears she’s becoming like them. Or is she just “reverting”?

At any rate, it appears we’re back to killing all mutants! Killing all mutants!

Holy …. she really is a psycho. I thought maybe perhaps the One had possessed her but…

Should have done what, at the very beginning of what? If Amesworth had dusted “our” cardoodles at first sight(on the beach), she wouldn’t have made it to where she is now. She’d needed them to allow her jump planes. If she’d dusted them when they arrived ar the tower, she wouldn’t have found this gate without Wally, and would have been toothbrushed badly by now. And, I think the zero beam probably punched a hole in their ditto shield, possibly causing a opening for the toothbrush mass to enter.

Maybe the entire room and its occupants are shifting to the next universe.

This is why you should never ignore the elephant in the room.

Amesworth had a break with sanity, but with the ceiling starting to collapse on them, perhaps she’ll return to sanity long enough to help get them all out of there and to safety?

I do see it as a ricochet (which is a bit surprising with a beam weapon, but… comic physics). However, it doesn’t seem to have hit a live part of the gate pattern… at least not on this bounce.

The topsiders on the other side of the gate might want to duck, though.

It looks like the shot was reflected/refracted back into the room (possibly due to some weird spacetime distortion brought about by the gate?). As others pointed out, it may not have been harmless. Chunks of rock are falling and there’s been a break in one of the lines in the final panel, possibly where the ricochet hit (there seems to be a smoky haze where it would have passed through). What this means for their attempts to leave, I have no idea.

Looks like Amesworth had a sudden attack of elephantiasis…

What if that beam has been sent through various realities & back?
