I’ll help! (Trips on a chalk line – dropping the casserole.) Oups! Guess we will have to order a pizza! Or burgers! How about cheese cake?!? (Grin!)
The mom’s response reminded me of Jack Benny saying “NOW cut that out.” and Dave Coulier as Joey Gladstone on Full House, saying, “Cut … it … out” with pauses and hand motions.
My mother was rather territorial in the kitchen. Once I was starting to make soup out of some leftover meat and veggies. I had water about to boil in a saucepan when she came into the kitchen. She dumped the water in the sink and put cold water in a kettle and plugged it in. I was not doing it right! I never tried to cook anything in her kitchen after that.

I remember as a kid some nitwit told me spaghetti was white worms and horse blood. I am still a bit shaky at the pasta bar.
