There are animals that consume as their main nutrient heavily fibrous plants… which are very difficult for most animals to digest. Several diferent strategies have evolved to deal with this.
Cows chew, swallow, digest, bring the food back to the mouth to chew and swallow again… so that by this cud-chewing their digestive organs process the food four times before the body can use it.
Rabbits eat, produce droppings consisting of a membrane covered bit of partly digested food… which they eat again, swallow, and digest a second time, this time producing the hard round compact droppings we see in their habitats.
My Mediterranean tortoise just keeps the food inside for a long time. His extremely long intestine may take five or six days to properly digest a meal of dried grass.
The koala depends on a gut load of certain species of bacteria which do much of their digesting for them. That little morsel from Mom establishes the healthy bacterial colony that will be needed for the rest of her offspring’s life.
The koalas in Australia have a widespread chlamydia problem. (Also, don’t ever say “koala bear”, because it will make people wet their pants in their eagerness to inform you that koalas aren’t bears.)
It is my understanding that the Nobel Peace prize was created because a news paper published his obituary, it was not very complimentary considering he invented dynamite and the consequences there after. He was not dead and was upset by his perceived legacy.
Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, last year’s Nobel Peace Prize winner, continues to reject international pleas for dialogue and de-escalation of his war in Tigray, proving once again that the Nobel Peace Prize is a meaningless piece of tin.
When microbiologist Stanley Falkow was a lab tech at a hospital, he was fired for having some patients eat poop. He was rehired two days later. https://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2018/02/when-poop-becomes-medicine/554123/

Nobel peace prize? Is something wrong with the origin then something wrong with the outcome. Only one I highly admire is Sartre who rejected it.

Kinda makes the Nobel peace prize an oxymoron.

But you can only find the pumpkin toads in the fall and winter. They’re EVERYWHERE you look – then POOF! Right after New Year’s, they’re gone.
