Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
I use to enjoy the APP (Associated Artists Productions) Popeye âtoons in the 1960s when I was a child. Later when I got older and saw the really early Popeye cartoons I realized how cheaper-quality and low-budget the newer ones were. The early Popeye characters even casted shadows! Examples:
APP (1954): https://youtu.be/ehPRG8OU0y8
Max Fleischer (1936): https://youtu.be/QIwUpvf2jXY
Whatâs REALLY unnerving is when you watch an old show or movie and stuff that you could swear you remember happening didnât happen the way you always thought it did.
The English serials I watched as a kid were already reruns of old TV programs (think âI love Lucyâ, for example). I doubt if my kids will even sniff at âem. :D
There is a school of thought that, if a property was hot once, it can be so again. Thus we get reboots of The Green Hornet, The Lone Ranger, Captain âShazam!â Marvel, The Little Rascals, Car 54, Sgt. Bilko - I can go on -
Larry Harmon, who owned Bozo the Clown, also had the license to Laurel & Hardy; you may remember the Hanna-Barbera cartoons done under his imprimatur. When they tried to do a new live-action L&H movie in 1999 â âFor Love or Mummyâ â Larry finagled himself a cameo. You can get a sense from this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1Wk0YYBvK4
Sportswriter Joe Posnanski has coined the term âPixifoodâ for foods (such as PixiStix) that were great when we were kids, and are just awful now. The same concept applies to TV Shows as well. Some old shows can still be watched and enjoyed. Some are ok, though you have to make some accomodation for their age. And some are just downright awful now.
Jackie Chan Adventures is still great. As is the movie about the pastel ponies. Theyâd better keep their hand off Inspector Gadget TOS, though. With exception of Capeman. He deserves to suffer!!

Well now itâs so casually accepting. Things that people are rioting over in the real world donât even get a double take in this show.

Hey! Pinkie Pie has a cannon like that! Speaking of which, you think F.I.M will age well in the future?

Somewhat similarly, know of any online streaming sites whereon to watch the original 1980s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?

Actually, real confetti is pretty much okay, but most, today, is bits of plastic and that IS a problem for the environment.

Phoebeâs parents are right. I tried watching some of my old shows from way back in the late 70s. It was painful.

âClutch Cargoâ was a mind-bender when I originally watched it.

For science? Does this mean that Phoebe is looking to become a Girl Genius? https://www.girlgeniusonline.com/

Well, rest assured, there are some shows that age remarkably well, despite everything, so thereâs cause to hope, Phoebe. ;)
