What kind of pension does a grade school dropout get?

And get a job as a schoolteacher!

Wasn’t there another C&H strip where Calvin says you’d only go to school when it’s hot and muggy?

I’d choose going to school once every week, simply because it’ll give the students more time to prepare for the next school day.

No Calvin. You’ll still be going to school. Just really slow and with a cane.

I have bad news about where your parents will be when you’re in 4th grade.

Some schools have days off when there’s a little snow on the ground. Where I grew up, a little snow made you have phys ed in the gym.

Even worse than being in school on a sunny day or a snowy one is being in hospital. When I was a boy, I had a friend who spent a long time in hospital because he needed his appendix removed. On a sunny day soon afterwards, he told me “I feel sorry for all the kids in hospital on a day like this – and over Christmas.”

Knowing Calvin, he’d probably fall “sick” even on that day in November AND that day in March!

That is assuming that you live that long, Calvin!

How does Hobbes get back in the house after Calvin gets on the bus? Does Mom let him in? And I wonder what Mom and Hobbes do all day?

Only Calvin would know.

Playing in snow is not my thing.

On what? You don’ t earn an income. On the other hand, Calvin could demonstrate his snowman making talents to the rest of the kids during recess.

I already knew how to read when I started school, and was absolutely incensed when I discovered I had to go to school for another eleven years!

It depends on where you live. When I was in South Carolina, a half inch closed the state. In Massachusetts, a half inch isn’t even reported.

i’ve been with my company long enough to add up days off so that i take two weeks in the spring and then every friday from the end of july through xmas off. These 5 day work weeks are killing me.

I don’t think people mind learning, they just don’t like schooling.

Poor Calvin. Always winding up unable to escape the cold hard facts of reality.

I wonder what the parents will undergo if this six year old is around for the whole year. The current pandemic has shown a glimpse to all parents, I guess.

growing up in RI, one of my friends got held back a number of times (he really cared nothing about school, but loved cars, great mechanic) and he was still in elementary school when he got his driver’s license….he was in 7th grade and driving to school, and he would take the principal’s parking space all the time
