Did you ever want to see what Flash Gordon would look like if it were drawn Gil Thorp style? Of course not, but that didn’t stop it from happening anyway, as you can see at https://www.comicskingdom.com/flash-forward
In all reality , Ģil ,can I call you Gil ,Coach seems so formal, the track in Central City is a race track for horses ! Ever bet the ponies or just bet our games ?
GilPa needs to man up and say its either go carts or basketball. but not both. Let’s get real here, this is not a private school where they might put up with it because daddy and mommy are big donors.
Is the kid an asset to the team, or a liability? Doesn’t matter what his skill set is, if he’s not able to practice enough with the team he shouldn’t have a starting spot. No sin to prefer racing to b-ball, but if that’s your priority don’t waste time of other players and coaching staff with occasional appearances.
Two inches off the ground, eh? Kinda like how he slid in as off guard. Cut this kid loose Coach, he’s nothing but a ticket to second (or third) place in the Valley.
Doug drives a ’66 Pontiac GTO and takes Fridays off to go kart racing in Florida. So why is he going to school at Milford instead of at Valley Academy for Spoiled Rich Kids? He obviously craves speed and excitement, yet he wants to play Mudlark basketball? He must have transferred to Milford to do sociological research for a required term paper on life in the slow lane.
Dougie acts like he received clearance from GilPa to channel his inner Speed Racer. Does he have a huge “M” on front of the go cart like the powerful Mach 5? Does he wear a little jump suit with sponsors like Subwich, The Bucket, Speedco, Maris Industries, etc.? Another Milford student/athlete for Gil to mature into a responsible member of Valley society. If Dougie Guthrie’s parents didn’t blow money on go kart racing, he could attend St. Fabians.
P 3.5: Hold that position Doug, you might have what it takes to stay on the team. Let me grab my loofah and massage that tailbone. I think we might be able to reach an a mutually satisfying accommodation…
Of course Central City has one. They have everything that is illegal, dangerous, or both. So what’s the future for this doofus? The conflict between racing and basketball? Gets injured racing?
Whatever, speaking of conflicts, there should be no conflict when you think about reading Mopped Up Thorp. Just do it!

P1, C’mon, Gil nothing good ever comes from going to Central City.
P2, Gil, “Thanks, I’ll have to remember that on my kids next birthday. Oops, did I say that out loud?”
P3, Your tailbone will be attached to my foot if you miss practice for that nonsense!

P3 reminds me of how Beavis used to hold his hands when he wanted Butthead to change the channel.

This is cray-cray. Coaches, even at the grade school level, are complete jerks about kids missing practice for any reason.

When Dougie mentioned tailbone and inches, I looked at this Whigham creation. It is none other than…….Lini Verde!
