Ruh-Roh. Aquarius’s knowledge that Dollar Bill used to sell coke in the park is a serious blow (ahem!) to Pouch’s careful (he thought) clean-up of his park with Tiger Lilly’s help. Once past the momentary shock (panel 3), how will he choose to react?

Great head shots in today’s screen close-ups of this intense conversation; it’s like the build-up to a spaghetti western shootout….

I wonder if Tiger Lily is in the park at this late hour….

Love the expression on Pouch’s face in panel three. The Immodium hasn’t kicked in yet.

Aquarius gets poor marks in his people skills, could have run the conversation much better. Pouch had seen Aquarius with Bill, and Bill insisted it wasn’t a drug sale (and if you can’t trust a pusher, who can you trust?) So Pouch may be inclined to believe Aquarius’s crude query. Not sure why he needs to look startled. Feign ignorance, “Yeah, he was around a lot, but I haven’t seen him for a day or two. There was this big guy who’s been here the last day or two… Think he could have bumped your dollar guy off? Maybe you can ask him tomorrow if he sells.”

Pouch is a very interesting and complex character, one of the better ones to be found in Dick Tracy.

And on, and on, and on…where this storyline goes no one knows?

Actually, you DID suggest he sold “other things after hours.”

What does “Pouch” really do? I mean 15c for Balloons can’t make a lot of money (A buck makes more sense), and he’s an ex-con. We know he’s acted as a CI for the MCS. He’s got to have some sort of “legal” money making operation going on to live on, but has it ever been made clear?
