Even though the thesis is pretty thin, there’s still interesting information there.

Side notes, for whatever reason: Tuke was a Quaker. Thomas Eakins, a more widely known artist, did many paintings and photographs of nude men and teens swimming or laying around in the sun. It’s just what they do anyplace but in America with our bizarre Puritan history.
