So I did some looking on an archive site, and found that Bozo continued to run in at least one paper, the Bergen Evening Record from Hackensack, NJ. It ran through the end of the year, and starting 1/1/56, “Rivets” (about a dog by that name) took the spot on the comic page.
I didn’t look through the entire two months, but what I think is notable is that most of the strips after these three in today’s update didn’t have Fuzzy in them, and the one I noticed Fuzzy… there was no number on him. So while they were ‘dated’ properly for when they ran, I have to think there’s a good chance those remaining strips were repeats, possibly to fulfill a contract for the year of strips in 1955.
So thanks for the fun, Foxo Reardon – and I hope GoComics continues posting another round – from the start of what material is available. And thanks also to Michael for arranging where Bozo could find a new audience, and being kind with his time to participate in the comments here.
For those who come in late, these fabulous fun funnies was envisioned and executed so brilliantly by FoXo that you wouldn’t even realise that this was around a month or so before FoXo succumbed to cancer, when he left with only one eye too. What a splendid professional FoXo was, whose early death was a great loss to not only cartooning but to art itself, as he told his funny tales with his awesome artwork alone, without any of his characters in BOZO ever saying a single word.
An especially excellent epitome of pictures speaking thousand words, BOZO also the most pleasant picturesque pantomime where every panel is like a photograph of a three-dimensional cartoon world of realistic-looking depths and details. Such was his powerful perspective artwork which brought to life a lovely lively world of BOZO!
FoXo a rare combination of both sharp wits and artistic talents which is rarely seen together in the same cartoonist, a true master and professional cartoonist whose work quality speaks for itself and as you can see for yourself BOZO is pure gold coming from a golden era of cartooning!
But despite being a great classic of great creative calibre, neither BOZO nor FoXo are much known or remembered these days.
Spread the word, friends, so that BOZO can spread more joy and cheer to many many more!
…
And yes of course another big thumbs up, big applause, and three cheers once again for the marvellous master FoXo’s magnificent masterpiece, the most pleasant picturesque pantomime, the ever entertaining ever energetic ever enjoyable ever excellent evergreen entertainer, the brilliantly beautiful and beautifully brilliant BOZO!
With the Bozo strip for October 22, 1955 and after 34 years as a professional cartoonist and thousands of cartoons of every type, Foxo Reardon put down his pen for the last time. Five weeks later the creator of the world’s first successful pantomime comic strip and one of the country’s finest pen artists died at age 50.
BOZO 1- Our Friendly Neighborhood Thief, thought it was a Bride To Be about to slide down to meet her future Hubby as they elope. BOZO 2- You know your a Bad Dude if a black cat doesn’t cross your path. BOZO 3- Hey the “Play” sounded good in the huddle, use the Ref as blocker on a Hail Mary to win the game.
took me a minute, Bozo finds he doesn’t have the money to pay the hotel or rooming house for his room. So it’s out the window leaving an IOU on the desk. Unsigned. I’m intrigued by Fuzzy on the other roof, is he giving Bozo an Olympic “2” rating on his escape? This strip is like a fine chocolate with a surprise center of even better chocolate!. It’s funny when you first read it and funnier when you look closer.
BOZO is forever and FoXo will live in our hearts forever. A big salute to Fabulous FoXo, a marvellous man who told great funny tales without needing to use a single word to tell them, who brought a wonderful wordless world of BOZO to life with his awesome artwork alone, lesser known now but in no way any lesser than any well known cartoonist of any time.
And do not simply believe my words about these wonderful wordless wonders, but see for yourself as FoXo’s fabulous funnies will run again from tomorrow. See you there friends, and spread the word so that BOZO can spread more joy and sheer cheer to many many more!
1) ONE GOING OUT ANOTHER COMING IN: Bozo making a quiet exit by shimming down a line made up of sheets finds that the 2nd story man finds them useful too!
2) BAD LUCK BOZO: Bad to the bone Bozo is so bad even a black cat won’t cross his path!
3) OOPS, SORRY: Football, Bozo as a referee accidentally catches a pass. Oops—sorry!
In the last panel, of the last strip posted today…
Do I see a hint of Bozo looking out at the audience, almost apologetically? Like he knows he’s not going to be able to entertain us tomorrow?
A wistful wink to the audience by Foxo, just maybe?..Of course for the new generation of Bozo/Foxo fans, the happier news is that we do get to come back Thursday and be entertained all over again.
February 23. So far no update, but maybe a few days will pass before the strip restarts, so let’s remain confident and positive. Have a great day, Bozo’s people. ♡
I was thinking from the start, if we keep seeing these three at a time, we’ll run out quicker. I’d like to follow them again, but at a slower pace would be fine.
Still no sign of BOZO re running. Me also of opinion that one a day be better. Anyways until re runs begins, we still has archives here. Just goes back to first or just hits random button above!
But his gift to the world keeps on giving and giving. I have introduced many folks to BOZO who never knew. Now many folks in rest/nursing homes and Church folks are getting their daily laughter medicine from FOXO the BOZO creator. And may the Lord bless you all for giving still.
I be happy to read reruns of Bozo. I read Boondocks, Geech, Shirley and Son, Calvin and Hobbes, and 9 Chickweed reruns and enjoy them. I wish we could get Moon Mullins reruns.

Of course, Fuzzy didn’t always have a number on his back. Many times we only saw his split coattails.

1) Well, I’m going. Be my guest. ☺ Fuzzy on the roof, watching stars. ⭐
2) Don’t worry, black cat. Bozo only brings luck and joy to whoever crosses his path. And so does Fuzzy ♡
3) It’s definitely not Bozo’s fault. ☺

1) Sneaking out just as the crook is sneaking in.
2) Black cats know better than to cross Bozo’s path.
3) Obviously, Bozo was not the intended receiver.
And if today’s strips are the last run, then hopefully tomorrow we can come back and relive the Bozo experience all over again!

1. One attempting to slip out. One attempting to slip in. In ‘vintage’ cartoons they’d be saying “Bread” and “Butter” as they passed.
2. Unlike 1. No passing, so no saying bread and butter.
3. Hope the thundering herd coming towards you for the ball will indulge you by passing. Bread and Butter optional.
