If it involves Earl going into the casinos, he will be noticed. Security is real tight about underage players on the casino floor. He will be swiftly removed from the casino and an attempt made to locate Duke and he may not want to be located at that moment.
This is something akin to teams of shoplifters who have their kids hold the stolen merchandise, under the presumption that if store security catches them, the kids wont be charged, because they’re minors.
The real benefit will be if, no matter Duke tells Earl to do as part of a plan, Duke never actually tells him what it’s intended to ultimately accomplish. Then Earl won’t even necessarily have criminal intent. ;-)
I normally dislike the “Duke” arcs, unless Honey is more prominent. However I have really enjoyed this one, probably because I lived for a short time in Las Vegas, and then in other places in Nevada.

Yeah, but Duke still can. Not only for the crime Earl is going to commit, but in addition to that for involving a minor.

The lottery is a tax on people who are bad at math.
But the casino is bigger.

When my son turned 18, I asked him if he realized the significance of that. His reply: “Sure. Now I can be tried as an adult!”

…and the corruption of Earl’s soul continues. In Vegas no less. Well, if you’re going to hell, Vegas is as good a place to start as any.

Duke is actually looking out for the welfare of someone other than Duke? There’s gotta be an angle to this.
