That would be nice… until the kid discovered that more than half of our taste sense comes from smell. No nose to smell the food, no taste to the food. Hence the tasteless food when you have a stuffed nose. snigger
Enjoy them while you can, Kid. There might come a time when you will have to forgo all dark green veg in order to avoid interfering with blood thinner medications. We older folks often enjoy that regimen. Starting a dozen or so years ago, I had to reduce dark green vegetable intake to a very low and unhappy level. And I miss them. Once in a while I take a chance on a nibble but it isn’t the same.
The senses of taste and smell are closely linked. There’s hardly anything that smells bad but tastes good (or vice versa). But I bet the commenters on this strip can think of a few.

Yeah, but you also wouldn’t be able to smell it when you ate pizza. At least, not without getting pizza sauce in your hair.

Thankfully, the nose and mouth are opposite the rectum. Oooh, the smell!

And when you got old you wouldn’t worry about nose hair … or you could use nose hair for a combover.

Mom told me to hold my nose to eat things I didn’t like the smell of. Didn’t work.

I suppose some people wish their Nosek wasn’t in Las Vegas.

My father said “you’ll sit there ’til you eat them.” Two hours later I was released.

When I worked for NOAA we successfully performed CPR on a Beluga whale. Yes, mouth to spout.

As Gallagher said about the nose: “Who would put a wet, runny thing like that upside down over your mouth?”

Smelling food is probably the most important function of the nose, and you couldn’t taste much without a nose over your mouth.
