Read that before the onset of trains, way back when, there were hundreds more of variety of apples.

I had to buy an Empire apple tree in the UK, planted in my orchard, here in France… Everybody loves them… I may need to buy more…

Is that called try before you buy !

Apples are gamble on weather they taste good or taste like wood.

Eh, good thing they give taste trials in that store.

Can some one explain? I do not get the joke here.

I dislike those mushy things but seldom stray from Honey Crisp which was developed here and is both crisp and sweet. A little know eating and cooking apple is Freedom, also developed at Cornell Ag Experimental Station.

Strange – am I the only one to inspect each panel to see which apple she took?

Red Delicious apples, sneered at by apple snobs, but certainly okay. Granted, I’d rather have Fuji, Honeycrisp, Gala, or even McIntosh.

It should taste bad (to her) – since she didn’t pay for it

Since she didn’t pay for it with money – she paid for it in another way.

Mass production and monoculture has greatly diminished the quality of our produce.

There’s always a critic.

I prefer to wash the wax off first.

We apple-laud her efforts.

I don’t see an “Eat Me” sign or a “Try Me” sign.

I’ve thought to leave similar comments on some of the highly touted wines at Cos…that big members only shopping facility…

Delicious “Apples”.

I wonder if she paid for that apple she ate or just considered it “free” sample because she didn’t like it.

Oh dear, that’s my husband with grapes. “no, not good enough to buy today”. I walk quickly away.

I’m always skeptical of “fresh” fruit (within quotation marks).

If ya like cardboard.

Next…. the cookie aisle, “Oh my, a broken package”

Red Delicious apples are the least delicious. Golden Delicious are closer to delicious. IMO.

I prefer Macintosh even though I end up spitting out the CPU…

The best apple I have ever had is the Stayman from Virginia. They are hard to find nowadays but you can find Stayman/Winesap which is similar but not as good as the actual Stayman apple.

The reason I don’t like Delicious is that they don’t have any flavor for me. I feel like I’m eating cardboard. No flavor unlike so many other apples.

Can’t say I blame her.

Wife loves ’em. I refuse to eat them.

Try Jazz apples!

I see a pen in her hand and she put the word “Delicious” in Quotations whatever kind of appleit is, it must’ve been pretty good! Yum!!

One problem with many supermarket apples is that they’re not fresh. Instead, they’ve been stored for an extended period of time (“fresh” North American apples in February?), and even the crispest varieties can turn mushy.

Old school Winesap have held up and still have really good flavor; Delicious seemed like they got tested with a vaccine and lost all their sweet characte, firmness and flavor that they used to have.

Spartan, Macoun, Fireside all are good keepers if refridgerated as soon as picked.

Red Spy apples are also tasty.
