Why is fixing bridges, roads, railroad, internet and the rest of our infrastructure — which we need to thrive — bad?

People cheered tRump when he TALKED about infrastructure but now that Biden plans to do something Bok and company are having seizures.

The Swamp…how…quaint. The very one that got deeper and more sewage filled from 2016 through January 20, 2021 due to Herr Gropinfuror’s utter incompetence, nepotism, and racism/sexism/xenophobia.

Back in October 2020 my Kentucky state senator was running for reelection. He kept announcing these “new” grants that were going to put sidewalks in some of our rural communities.

These grants were part of a DOT project run by Sec. Chou, Mrs. Mitch McConnell, our esteemed Senator. They had had these funds for months, but sat on them until just before the election.

So now they’re busy pulling up sidewalks and relaying them in our nearby towns. Towns without jobs, libraries, falling down schools, parks and all kinds of other problems. But we have a couple 100 yards of new sidewalks down roads no one walks on.

Oh yeah, and a re-elected GOP state Senator.

So, only Repubs can repair the infrastructure. When are they going to get to it? Maybe, never. Meanwhile it falls to Dems to fix the mess you and your Repub cronies make of our world. All you Repubs seem to know how to do is kiss up to your big money donors with tax cuts and laws designed to enhance some business at the expense of the rest of us. VOTE DEMS ALWAYS!

Republicans don’t seem to mind when tax breaks for the rich don’t find there way to the bottom.. yet the thought that not all the infrastructure money is properly spent seems to blow their minds.

“The swamp” has never referred to government spending. It refers to cronyism, and absolutely no president has gone further down that road or more blatantly than Donald J Trump. How many of BIden’s children now have official White House duties? How many of his personal associates are getting cabinet positions and juicy political appointments? Hell, how many of his friends are getting pardons?

One of the biggest infrastructure pushes in the 20th Century was FDR’s New Deal, which created the Works Program Administration. It directly created jobs for millions of Americans who were on unemployment assistance during the Great Depression. It also built a huge amount of infrastructure, much of which we are still using today, almost a century later. Eisenhower had another big infrastructure push, creating the interstate highway system that is the lifeblood of so much of our transportation today. And we still use it.

Infrastructure investment pays off better than any other kind of spending, by making it easier for businesses to operate and to grow. Those businesses then pay taxes, and employ people who pay taxes, and who buy things, which leads to more businesses making more money and paying more taxes, and so on — infrastructure spending is not pork, it’s an investment.

Thanks to Trump, who restocked and fed that swamp… although if companies that support Republicans were guaranteed to get the contracts, the GQPs would suddenly not only like the infrastructure bill – they’d claim credit for it…

When did the re-pubs steal the right to define infrastructure?

The Swamp looks a bit smaller than when the other guy was President.

Isn’t “The Swamp” centered in Mar-a-Lago, where republican politicians go to recharge their evil?

Tax cut of 2017 that companies spent on stock buybacks like the CEOs said they would do just heated up the stock market and did NOTHING for the REAL economy. If corporate tax rates were higher (and I’m proposing that we go back to 35% or MORE) then companies spend money investing in their companies and training and supporting their employees to bring their tax obligation down.

Infrastructure investment is expected to return at least $2 for every $1 spent because people that are NOT wealthy will spend the money which will create even more jobs.

The cost in lives and money and to the environment when infrastructure fails are far too high too continue to ignore the problems. Plus private companies need to be held responsible for the damages they do. Examples: the reservoir in Florida is on private property but the taxpayers have to foot the bill, Superfund site clean-ups at former mines and quarries should be funded by the owners, not taxpayers.
