Most kids would look forward to summer vacation.

(Almost all) normal regular (sane) people don’t look forward to …

… swimming (or running, or biking) all the time. (or ever?)

I hope this is a story arc where we get to hear what the little girl looks forward to.

Lol! A real athlete loves a challenge! But it’s refreshing to remember what people idea of normal may seem strange to someone else.

Everybody has a different standard for weird. It’s easier to see in some than in others.

If he were truly interested in what the girl is saying, he’d guess what weird thing a child would look forward to and not hijack the thought by injecting his own weird obsession.

I think for winter swimming he needs a drysuit not a wetsuit.

I’m a lifelong science-fiction fan. To me and my friends, “weird” is considered (a) normal and (b) a compliment.

Hey, little random 8-year-old girl!! Did you know I’m a distance swimmer and love triathlons? Did you? Did you? Lemme tell you all about it!!!

Does “without a wetsuit” mean in trunks, in his regular clothes, or in the nude?

I think that everyone has their own standard of normal as well as weird. Charles Addams and Gary Larson, no doubt, had (and have) a much different standard of normal. (And maybe they didn’t consider anything to be weird.)
