My daughter and I shopped and had lunch at IKEA today…along with the 11 other people they allowed in. Just kidding but because the tables were really far apart,,the room only could hold 1/4 the amount of people there usually are, and nothing was self serve not even the salt and pepper packs. Kinda nice really, unlike the madhouse it usually is. However nothing we wanted to buy was in stock. And lots of shelves were empty.
National Play Outside Day. We’re supposed to get up to 80° today so I intend to be outside as much as possible. Not playing, but working in our garden center at work. And loving it! I plan on taking my lunch outside too. First time this year.
Join Hands Day
National Chocolate Parfait Day
National Homebrew Day
National Scrapbook Day
National Start Seeing Monarchs Day. Oh, I wish I saw as many monarch butterflies these days as I saw when I saw a kid. Now I’m lucky to see more than 4 or 5 of them all summer long.
Silver Star Service Banner Day
National Loyalty Day. National Loyalty Day recognizes American freedom and is set aside for the reaffirmation of loyalty to the United States and the recognition of the heritage of American freedom.
It’s kitten season. Dr Susan has been foster 3 that were found in an empty truck. They required hand feeding and two were very sickly but have turned a corner and are now eating on their own and starting to gain weight. They’re not yet at the one pound mark but getting there. Then yesterday, somebody took an adult female cat to the shelter. Robyn noticed her teats were leaking. In the afternoon, a different person took 3 tiny kittens in, eyes were still closed. Anyone want to guess where the mama was? Susan took the little family to Dr Susan. She said the mama is very sweet, not at all feral. Everyone is very clean and well fed. I was feeling bad about her taking on more fosters so offered to take the family. She said to wait a couple of days for them to settle in. Then, last night I got another text from her. Some lady was walking in a field and out a newborn kitten, the cord still attached. She called regular Susan who got it over to Dr Susan, hoping the mama would accept it as her own. She did, so now she’s feeding 4 babies. I have a feeling Dr Susan will keep them for the duration. She knows I’m wary of newborns because things can go wrong and I’m notgood at handing them. However, if she asks, I will certainly bring them here
On a sad note, a cat I fostered 4 yrs ago had to leave us yesterday. Calvin, an orange and white sweetiepie, was full of cancer and the vet said there was no coming back from it. They found a tumor on his jaw and was supposed to have it removed yesterday. Instead, it was all thru his face and mouth. He did an autopsy and found it in his stomach as well.
I’d had him for about 2 weeks when I asked Debi if she would take him for the weekend so we could go out of town. My hope was they would love him and keep him. My evil plan worked because she called me while we were driving back and said her husband was totally in love with Calvin and wanted to know if they could adopt him. He’s been like a Moosie to the feral kittens she’s trapped and had in the house. I sent her pictures I have of him with Casper and Moose. Maybe Capser and the Scoots were waiting for him on the other side of the rainbow bridge.
Man, there’s nothing like the feeling of a retroactive raise. Even if it’s only a couple of weeks, it’s a good feeling. Even if it’s a fraction of a percent …
I had to put Q-Tip down yesterday. He got sick over the weekend & I took him to the Vet. He was supposed to have blood work done next week, so of course they did it. He was VERY constipated & they got him going. He was fine until Friday morning when it hit again. I made an appointment for 3:30 & when I got there, they had just gotten the results from the blood work. He’s was extremely diabetic & anemic plus a few other problems. His organs were starting to shut down. Even if I took him home & started insulin etc, The Dr. didn’t think he’d last more than a few weeks & no quality of life, just pain & problems. He was just 7 years old & an outside cat until Jan of last year when he got sick. He recovered at least for a while & his last year was inside. I’d had him fixed when he was a kitten & they started a low cost TNR. He Aunt is feral even after 8 years she won’t come near me. But Q-Tip was always loving & lovable.
When Lily asks for a raise, you’d better darn well give her a raise! You wouldn’t want to make her mad, would you? On another note, saw four rabbits, eleven robins, two dragonflies, a blue butterfly, a damselfly, and a Stellar’s jay while out walking today. Damselflies are similar to dragonflies, except they’re smaller, and their wings fold differently when they’re not flying. (Dragonfly wings fold horizontally, while damselfly wings fold vertically.)

Yeah, and I want it in one dollar bills. Sprinkled with rose water and tied with a blue ribbon. Oh and presented on a silver platter.

I have Plopper on a tab, with plenty of pics on the opening page. I see that it is set for “Friends”. Could Plopper be set for public views ?
Plop has kwite the dossy-A.
“About Plopper
My real birthday is 8/4/06. I can haz presents?
I am probably a cross between a Ragamuffin and a Maine Coon.
My rules:
1. Always give generously. A small bird or rodent left on the bed tells them, I care.
2. Climb your way to the top. That’s why the drapes are there.
3. Curiosity never killed anything except maybe a few hours.
4. Find your place in the sun. Especially if it happens to be on that nice pile of warm, clean laundry.
5. If you’re not receiving enough attention, try knocking over several expensive antique lamps.
6. Life is hard, then you nap.
7. Make your mark in the world. Or at least spray in each corner.
8. Never sleep alone when you can sleep on someone’s face.
9. Variety is the spice of life. One day ignore people, the next day annoy them.
10. When eating out, think nothing of sending back your meal twenty or thirty times.
11. When in doubt, cop an attitude.
Can non “bookers” get the pics ?
