A good night’s sleep? Heck, I’d settle for a sound sleep of 2 or 3 hours at a solid stretch. And I’d think I’d died & gone to heaven to not have aches and pains wake me up, let alone me not waking up with.
When my spouse and I were in grad school, many years ago, we participated in a sleep study in which the length of our sleep was reduced by 1/2 hour every month and we were tested to see how well our brains were handling it. The study leaders were very surprised to note that my math skills increased dramatically until I pointed out that their test — seeing how many columns of double digit numbers you can add correctly in 5 minutes — was just allowing me to practice a skill I hadn’t done since leaving grade school. The unfortunate side effect of the study was that we discovered that I could function very well on an hour’s less sleep than my spouse — so ever since then, I’ve been the one to ‘close down’ the house at night as well as the one expected to get up, make the coffee, feed the animals, get kids to school, etc. in the morning.
hmmmm, my schedule calls for 9, 12, 2, 4, 7 for naps. each at least 20 minutes and a longer one from 11 to 6 – seems to work – for now – AND I’m not even retired (just tired) yet.

Even though I’m retired, when I wake up in the morning I’m raring to go and attack the day. Carpe Diem!

I have chronic insomnia, but Kaiser can only treat apnea. The treatment made my insomnia worse.

My husband sometimes wakes up for breakfast, takes a nap between lunch and dinner, and naps again after dinner, then goes to bed.

Don’t tell anybody, but sometimes I’ll take a nap as I’m reading the comics here. I apologize if my snoring has disturbed anyone else’s nap.
