And then, a half hour or so later, thereâs this OTHER problem. My mom saw to it that we were hydrated, (mildly) exercised, tooth-brushed and well drained before we were tucked in. The only thing she heard after that was a kid in actual pain (I got earaches in those days, for instance).
Calvin, itâs a chemical compound call oxygen di-hydrate. It can cut through rock and under high pressure even steel. Drinking this will give you strength.
This reminds me of one of my favorite Dennis the Menace cartoons from when I was a kid. Dennis had gotten his dad to bring him a glass of water and he said âThatâs bathroom water. I wanted kitchen water.â
Did anyone here watch the 1960s Hanna-Barbera show Top Cat? This reminded me of the episode âThe Long Hot Winterâ, where the gang spends the winter at Officer Dibbleâs house. The scene Iâm thinking of is the first 1:15 of this video: https://youtu.be/L8g503KhrfM
It is important that children associate satisfying thirst with just plain water. If you have to have a sweet drink every time you are thirsty, the weight piles on pretty quickly. It also adds a lot of unnecessary expense over the years. My second wife had been married to a millionaire but she always ordered plain water at a restaurant. The beverages are the most overpriced items on the menu and can interfere with tasting well-prepared food.
Iâm in Canada. Our version of Sesame Street included French. So in the middle of the night I shouted âEau, Eauâ instead of calling for water. My parents came super quick the first timeâŠ
I am not rational when Iâm sleep-deprived. My first thought was to see how long Calvin could hold his breath under water⊠Then I would say, âYes, take it or leave it.â Nowadays, Iâd just leave a sippy cup or equivalent by his bed so he could help himself, and not wake me up at all.
