It is not the flag, but what it stands for, that we celebrate today. As well as those who served and particularly those who died in service under it to preserve what it stands for. Recite the Pledge, salute the flag, and honor those men and women, today.
We all know which flag we’re celebrating today, but here’s a relatively new one (intentionally also using red, white, and blue) that’ll have special significance this Saturday (June 19, AKA Juneteenth):
Heh. I just put out the flags. US, since we’re in America, Maple Leaf and Union Jack to represent our respective nationalities, and a Flying Spaghetti Monster flag, with keeps the religious solicitors away.
My late lamented mother had excellent taste in clothing, while I am both chromatically challenged and fashion impaired. So every year for my birthday, she’d accompany me to a men’s shop and purchase clothes I could wear at my job at the bank. I consider myself fortunate in that most people’s mothers only provide them with one birthday suit, but over the years I received several.
I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. (I will note that those who make the most noise about loving the flag seem least interested in justice for all)

I thought a “freak flag” was long hair. At least, that’s what Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young said.

Flag day why? It is our founding documents that make our country. The flag can be any look.

A flag can express elements of a country, it can’t make a country. There is no Constitution and Bill of Rights day that is noticed.

Actually, today is my birthday, but I think going au naturale would have gotten me kicked out of the restaurant.
