Extra Virgin Olive OilMild Extra Virgin Olive Oils are great for baking, broiled or grilled fish, vegetables, milder cheeses, soups, and sauces.Medium Intensity Extra Virgin Olive Oils are great for grilled meats and vegetables, heavier sauces, pastas, milder cheeses, and bruschetta.Robust Extra Virgin Olive Oils are great for salads, heavier sauces, grilled meats, rustic dishes, pastas, risottos,XOXOXOX
If those are the only two choices, this is how I would handle it: Tell Kim what’s going on, and let HER make the decision. She would have more insight into the comparative value of her fellow coders. And who knows? She might have another job waiting in the wings, and might be glad to be “laid off” so she doesn’t have to make that choice. (Or for that matter, she might be happy to live off unemployment for a while…)
Mike can expect to get fired himself in the near future – either his boss will try to save face by blaming Mike for the firings, or Mike will find it harder to manage the remaining employees (who neither trust nor like him anymore) prompting the boss to say Mike has become ineffective…

Since it doesn’t matter who gets fired, put all their names in a hat and draw one.

You have to figure, having known Mike for over 25 years at the point of this strip’s original publication, that Mark recognizes Mike’s voice.

Nice. Send the boss a note saying he’s fired. See how it works out.

Think of getting fired as a life’s lesson. It builds character. Go ahead and use this in your speech to the poor souls if you like.

Things that might take weeks in other comics take a panel or two here. No hesitation, just full-on, character-driven narrative.

There is a simple solution to Mikes’s dilemma. He should take all the coders and start his own company.

Well, at least my name doesn’t sound like some kind of lu-SOOB-ra-CANTS!
