When the transporter is finally invented the principles will have been derived from the action of socks in dryers.

Socks – metamorphically speaking, the embryonic state of the wire coat hanger.

In all my years of doing laundry, I’ve never lost a sock. But I have found some of my wife’s socks between the washer and dryer.

I always thought the Door to the Universe of Lost Socks was in the back of the washer. Never even thought the machines themselves would be in on the conspiracy. . .

I once threw away an unmatched sock, then its mate showed up.

My hypothesis is that half of the lone socks aren’t the ones that had lost their mates but were in fact the wandering mates that had teleported in from somebody else’s dryer.

My theory is that the “lost” sock morphs into a Tupperware lid that fits absolutely no container that I own.

Mom used to bake some Christmas cookies way ahead. We could never find them (for snacking purposes), until she was good and ready to bring them out. I developed the theory that she had a secret hole in the basement, because our socks would disappear down there (by the washer and dryer). She never actually denied it, but after she passed and we readied the house for sale, we never found it.
