They could at least told the kids they were going. I bet the kids have a key to the house and once in they will panic. Report to the police, parents are missing. Not like them to not say anything. Maybe they were kidnapped…..
It seems that none of the kids come for visits anymore. We have to be the ones going there. So, usually, we ‘run away’ for the Christmas holiday, if no one has made reservations at our house. We have gone to Branson once, and to Vegas twice.
My husband was surprised a few times with his parents trips. We started having Sunday brunch out with them just to find out their plans. When no one is cooking and everyone is just sitting around a table, you can find out a great deal. His parents only lived a few miles away from us.
This is very unrealistic. Close parents and daughter – they would advise them of a trip and request help with the pets. Earl would never agree to a cruise, and his wife likely not either unless her sister went along. I am finding it amusing, but not likely.
As far as I’m concerned, those two deserve the guilt trip that they are giving themselves. As I said before, you don’t flat out tell your parents that you don’t want to live near them. You make up a plausible lie. There, I said it. And I can’t wait to see their faces when they find out where the old folks have gone.
Interesting how they headed out on a long cruise with apparently no planning. All those conversations we’ve been following and it was never mentioned even once.

It is so easy to make the wrong assumption about what others do. Jumping to conclusions can be an exercise in futility!

Her daughter may end up calling the police to find out if they are still alive! (or if she has a key, go in)
