Oh for pete’s sake! how can this even happen? A random coloring error in a small area is one thing, but this one is on an object where the color is the whole point of the joke!
How does the colorist manage to color the strip without actually reading the strip? If the coloring step comes before adding the text, does no-one bother to at least leave a note for the colorist saying “Hey, FYI, this donut needs to be colored green for the joke to work.”? And then how does the whoever adds the text also miss this error?
Not everything green is a vegetable. Green grapes and olives are fruits. Then there are green caterpillars which are edible. Green frogs legs. Then there is the green M&M, green Smarties. And finally there is green cheese, which the Moon is made out of.
If Jon were in this one, he would complain that donuts are not vegetables. And of course, Garfield would counter back that since donuts are made from dough, which is made from flour, which in turn is made from wheat, then it would count to him.
Did some short research. OK, I did a quick internet search, and if Garfield wants to believe the donut is green his vision will let him get away with it.
Why is everyone commenting on the color of the donut being off? As a long time donut eater, I’m her to tell you that if I walk into a donut shop and say “I’ll have one of those green donuts” or even “one of those “pink” donuts, they’ll know that I’m referring to the icing. For the most part, and the exception being special occasions like St. Patricks day, the donuts come in 2 colors: tan and dark brown.

Even radishes are green, Garfield? How about parsnips and carrots? Last I checked, they’re red, white, and orange respectively.

absolutely, Garfield. As usual, you have touched upon the meat of them matter.

Unless it’s toxic green, maybe Garfield will mutate into someone nicer.
Nah, that will never happen.

Either it’s time for Jon to ask Liz for an eye-check or it’s time for GC to hire a few literate colorists.

I think the “green” part is the process by which the doughnut was created i.e. earth friendly!

Homer: “Donut?”
Lisa: “No, thanks. You have any fruit?”
Homer: “This has purple stuff inside. Purple is a fruit.”
