I don’t understand it… I started jogging last week and I’ve somehow managed to put on 5 pounds.

Can’t believe how quickly she bailed on her run, I guess the thought of pancakes was overwhelming. Oh, and she just happens to be carrying money to pay for the splurge.

Marjie: "I’ll have the jumbo slam with extra bacon, extra pancakes, and whipped cream — leave the spray can. Heather: “Small salad with a slice of lemon please.” Waitress: Got it Duce — who’s the newbie? Marjie — Our new dining critic.

In all reality , after meeting Mo and listening to her fill in Marjie with what’s going on in Milford , Heather decides to write a column called Dirt from the Diner , a slice of what’s going on in Milford .

After that delicious jumbo slam and listening to Heather drone on about her life, and upon Marj’s recommendation, Dale Parry hires Mo to be his new Star reporter. Her first column (“Mo Knows”) hints there are people who can tell you where the “alleged” Thorp children are! Subscriptions to the Star skyrocket.

Now that Marjie has cooled off, let’s get this rhubarb started with some of Mo’s freshly baked pie.

“I’ll buy”….with what? Her “good looks”? She really carries a wallet, cash, or credit card when she goes out for a jog? If so, I don’t think I want to know where she keeps it while she’s jogging.

P1, I don’t really care as long as the hours are noon to 1 PM with an hour for lunch.

P2, Marjie will be soooo disappointed when Dale gives the coveted Milford sports beat to Heather.

    P3, Mo knows Milford.

Here’s where Marjie lets Heather in on her little secret. All of her ideas for her bombshell stories (like Library Board meetings) come from her top source, the Diner’s Maureen who serves everyone in Milford and sees all and knows all.

And speaking of knowing and seeing, I know you want to see today’s Mopped Up Thorp. So just jump right here: https://moppedupthorp.wordpress.com/

P2, evil grin: The Deuce wants to find out what job she wants so that she can steer the editor to give her the web producer job, which doesn’t exist since Milford doesn’t yet have the internet.

Take it from a retired copy editor, copy editors are all but extinct. No way would the Milford paper have any. On the other hand, news of the current business model for newspapers might not have reached Milford yet.

She’s got the physical appearance that will help her get into TV reporting, and seems to have the charisma to go with it.

The most unrealistic part of this story is that there is a newspaper somewhere hiring additional staff instead of laying off existing staff.
