I donât understand why we use this antiquated calendar. In modern times, canât we do better? Then Iâm reminded, we still use a measurement system, based on King Henry 1st, measurement from the tip his nose to the thumb of his outstretched hand (1 yard). Why? Also we still have daylight saving time, that saves nothing???
To be honest, I think of a frog or frogs âleapingâ every time I hear mention of âleap yearâ. I think that came from a cartoon of some sort I saw as a small child, and itâs been deeply ingrained ever since. Not related to the note pad I once saw that said âThings to get hoppinâ onâ, and showed frogs and a rabbit, and maybe another critter too.

Actually Three of four years should be leap years, They leap over February 29th directly to March First.

Why âleapâ? That looks like a toad, not a leapinâ lizard.

Well, weâll get a break from leap years in 2100, just to keep us on our toes.

I donât get the term âleapâ either: seems to me it should be âpause yearâ, âslow yearâ, âwork an extra day yearâ.

It ainât half as bad as daylight savings time.

Looks like we narrowly missed âjump yearâ, âspring yearâ or even âwart yearâ!
