Which part of “We’re working with a changing situation” didn’t you get, Al?
Did you ever go, say, duck hunting? Do you pick a spot in the sky and wait for a duck to fly through it, or do you try to track the duck’s actual path (with “lead” of course)? No? Hmm. How about swatting flies? Do you watch the first fly land, and then expect all the flies to land in the same place?
If people had just gotten vaccinated and the USA had reached at least 70% and especially 80% vaccinated in early July, as was possible with Biden’s vaccine rollout we wouldn’t have had to go back to wearing masks. Instead, places like Florida and Texas did everything they could to ensure another Covid surge. Florida and Texas together have 1 out of 3 Covid cases in the entire USA.
Congrats, Republicans, you have won the gold for stupidity.
What part of ‘wear a mask’ and maintain 6 ft. of distance did you and the Trumpanzees not understand last year when the virus could have been slowed, perhaps stopped? Your freedumb has and continues to allow this misery to continue.
Al apparently didn’t think the lockdown was all that bad and he doesn’t mind risking another one. Staying inside all day drawing his cartoons and watching Fox/OAN is what he’d do anyway I suspect.
It’s called being adaptive, when numbers are low and trends are good, normalcy returns; when numbers are high and trends are increasing action must be taken. I don’t mind a system that adapts with the situation.
Goodwyn doesn’t understand that smart people adapt to changes. Or, that if more people had cooperated with masking and vaccines, we wouldn’t be having such big additional waves to adapt to.
Please don’t wank on about the CDC. They are giving rational advice in a very fluid situation. They’re only trying to keep you informed as critical new info becomes available.
If everyone had stayed home for 8 weeks in April and May of last year (and had worn a mask), WE WOULDN’T BE HERE. The MAGA @$$hats and Qupublicans are the root cause.
I don’t have a great distrust in the CDC. That said, they are not infallible and have been wrong in the past as with all government agencies. The current problem I have with the CDC is that they are making policies and issuing statements based on political pressure vice science. Please tell me where the Teachers Union has any business giving the CDC directives regarding guidance in reopening schools. Most recently is Pelosi urging the CDC to ignore the SCOTUS ruling regarding rental and mortgage payments.

There is still a deadly pandemic going on.
If you were intelligent enough, you wouldn’t need the CDC to hold your hand.
Get vaccinated. Social distance whenever possible. Wear a mask when you need to be around other people.
Listen to experts, not talking heads.
Know that scientists discover more information as time progresses.
Don’t forget that there is nothing permanent or dogmatic about science.
Keep in mind that there’s nothing political about a global pandemic.

What kind of an idiot expects perfect “clarity” in an unprecedented crisis where the scientific details are rapidly evolving?
Probably the same guy who books a beachfront hotel in Florida 10 days in advance and blames the weatherman when a hurricane blows up quickly.

A virus with an R0 of 1 to 2 is a very different beast than one with an R0 of 7 or 8.

Hey Al, you need to use your genius and guide Fauci and others along the right path. They would surely appreciate that. Snerk.

Conservatives pine for the Black Plague. People prayed, partied, and died. Just the way God wanted it, I guess.

Just wear the damn mask. It’s not difficult. Protect yourself and protect others. You don’t need instructions on this.

Most people believe a change to reality should mean an change to actions.
Al doesn’t believe that. He believes that a no evidence should change any guideline.
He also believes that the Sun travels around the earth because that was the worldview when Christ walked the earth and no one is smarter than Christ.

Seriously- Does anyone know if a person that has previously had it can be re-infected? Asking for a friend.
